Who We Are

Based in Manchester, Special Spirits provides extra-curricular programmes for children and young adults with special needs. Set up in 2006 by a team of young compassionate volunteers, Special Spirits provided respite care in the form of a winter camp for 5 children with special needs.

Since then, Special Spirits has grown to providing 18 services including multiple daily programmes for 40+ children and young adults with a wide spectrum of special needs. We are a team of 6 members on the management committee and have qualified staff bringing skills to the children, with over 80 young volunteers a week.

At Special Spirits, we believe that Hashem chose these children to be part of a very special family. Not just anywhere in the world but here in the Manchester community, to bring simcha to their days, and help bring out their full potential.

Special Spirits provides facilities and services in accordance with Jewish values, in the interests of social welfare, for recreation and education for children and young people with disabilities with the object of enriching their lives.

Our fantastic volunteers bring in patience, compassion, flexibility, and eagerness to make a direct difference in the lives of the children they serve.
